Dunp Valve replacement

Hello and I need help again, I removed the dump valve from my 1961 overlander without hurting the tank at all, Andy came on line and said I should replace it with a adapter for a thetford by cutting the tank and glassing a adapter to the tank, I ask Andy if I could use the four nuts that are glassed to the tank now. Andy had went off line before he answered. So my question is do I need to cut the tank for a new thetford dump valve. I had the old brass dump valve and it was a 2" pipe thread on the dump valve and all thetford I can find are 3" spigot which I take is the place you put your hose fitting to take a drain hose. The 61 has no gray tank and the drains were hooked to this fitting. How will I solve this problem with the three inch fitting. I hope this hasn't confused everyone and I can get a little help. Thanks ...Dave...
