Dump Valve Cap

We have been doing plumbing work on the 79 Excella and had removed the cap from the waste water dump outlet to wash it (Thetford ?). We left it next to the trailer overnight and the next morning it was gone! The only thing we can figure is that an animal must have carried it off as the trailer is in a semi-rual area on a dead-end street so it is not like ther are many potential thieves around. Anyway it iwas white and I believe it is 4 inch in diameter and had a fitting to attach a garden hose on it. Does anyone know if replacements are available?

According to the local RV dealer they are not and I need to put an adapter on it to reduce the outlet to 3 inch? Are 4 inch not made anymore?

New to the RV lifestyle and just don't have a clue.

Dan

Dan,

Is this what you want: http://www.campingworld.com/browse/s...or/skunum=6383
Just make sure that it fits Thetford.

Bill it look close but I am not sure if it is big enough in diameter but will look into it further.

Lipets, I looked at their website but could not find anything close. But you are right I probably should call.

Dan,

When I purchased the blue boy tank it came with that type of cap which fits my 1979 Safari.

Hello dano57 ,

the white cap is a thetford ,the local Rv place here in town has that white cap I think with the hose fitting and a solid cap .They are heavier plastic
and made well ,doesn't mean better ,but just a description of what they are
and expensive as well .I can check for you if you have no luck and ill go by
and measure it as well from the RV store.

This cap has a garden hose fitting allowing you to screw on a hose to let washwater drain on the ground (where permitted) or into a collection container such as a blue boy.

Dano57 , not many RV dealers are carring the Thetford line any more but all should be able to order them , they are still made . When you find them you may want to get a set of spares ( hose fitting and cover ) as they are hard to find on the road if one should get lost or broken.

don't panic if you cannot find one, you can make one from a regular 3" thetford hose connector and some pvc parts from the hardware store.

i made one using a thetford connector, 3' cleanout, matching screw in cap and a brass garden hose adaptor. it is a little more bulky than the original but serves the same purpose.

Thanks for the replys folks. I have checked with a couple of RV places and they want me to buy some kind of adapter to a smaller size. There is a couple of dealers I haven't checked with on the south side of town, I'll see if they can order.

Scott, if I can't find one I may take you up on your offer. John, if push comes to shove I might need to discuss how you built one.

Thanks again.

Dan

Camper World carries them locally and online. I got lucky and found one on ebay - check there - often there are several of the caps and fittings. Some used - just open the box with gloves on....
