Dump Station Water Supply
I just purchased and used the Sewer Solution for the first time with our new AS. It worked exactly as advertised, and I'm really happy with it. However, I do have one concern. I've never used a dump station, so I'm not sure how they're equipped. Is there a fresh water faucet at most of them? To use the Sewer Solution you have to have a hose connected to a water supply, and if that can't be accomplished at a dump station, I might need to hang onto my 3" sewer hoses/fittings. Thanks for your help.

MOST dump stations have water faucets. I've come across a couple that don't, but for the most part they do. Sometimes they are set up such that you can't securely connect a hose to the faucet, but that's rare in my experience.

yes, most will have a hose for 'wash down' after the tanks empty. However, many will be smaller diameter hose and will be missing the male end piece... so, bring along your "OLD" fresh water hose from last year... then clean up.

At least where I live it is very common for the dump station hose to have no end on it at all and no way to connect a hose to it. So, it would be hard to use the Sewer Solution. This is especially true at Forest Service and State parks which use the spring tower to support the hose. Also, by leaving off the hose end there somewhat less chance that some will connect it to their water tank and fill the tank with a possibly contaminated hose.
I would NOT depend on water or a working hose end at all dump stations.

I carry 3 sizes of the male ends in a small bag and when I run into the situation one of them will fit with a small temporary clamp. I than use them on the black water flush.
Sometimes one will fit tight enough that I don't need the clamp.

Most have a hose with no connection at the end or a place to hook up your own hose. We try to plan our stops so that we have a full hook up and dump at the site and thereby don't have to wait in lines, wonder if there is a clean out hose etc. About every third night if we are running cross country we have full hook ups and I dump after breakfast.

Thanks, everyone, for the advice. I just ordered one of the Water Bandits...sounds like it could really be useful.

Get a hose clamp to help ensure that the Water Bandit has a solid connection to the dump station hose.

in our part of the country there is usually a rinse hose provided at the dump station using non-pottable water, but often there is either no end fitting at all or the threads are so damaged they are unusable. Some have even put a nozzle on them so you can't connect anything to them. Unless you can plan you dump needs around full hookup sites it's probably wise to have a 3" slinky hose as backup, especially if your black holding tank is small.
When we come across a dump site that we are not able to hook our black tank rinse hose to, or the line at the dump station is too long to take the time to do it, we skip the rinse and do a "quick dump" and do a more complete dump & rinse later.
