with a 16' Bambi I'm trying to reduce items I carry. I have a 90 degree bayonet fitting that i put on the end of the sewer hose to plug into the RV dump hole. Do I really need that? It does not fit into a hose carrier so I have to carry it in a plastic box in the TV. Can I go without the fitting? I see straight bayonet fittings but they seem to be for coupling additional hoses.

can someone enlighten me please?

Many campgrounds require a threaded connection between your hose and the sewer connector - which is typically a 3" or 4" FPT. And it's probably obvious that you don't want stuff to be leaking when you dump your black tank.

Those are the criteria, AFAIK, how you meet those criteria is up to you.

I've never seen one. I have a two-piece model that gets small enough to fit into a bumper compartment.

Building a sewer hose carrier from a plastic fence post cover has solved the problem of storing the oversize couplings for a lot of RV owners. ( there are lots of plans online) i'm not terribly handy and it took me an hour and a half after tracking down the parts at the big box store. I keep everything in the "drawer" which is easy to access and keep clean.

If you come straight up from the sewer fitting, the hose may crimp and restrict flow. Also, when you are done, the entire hose will be full of effluent and will be difficult to dump. Solids may not go uphill to get into the sewer. I carry a clear 45 degree coupling to use at the trailer end, the orange right angle fitting, and a rubber doughnut for those sewer fittings that don't have threads or the threads are messed up, all in a plastic storage container in one of the outside storage compartments.

Absolutely don't need it. It reduces kink/stress on the hose which would otherwise result in cheaper hoses cracking. Also the right angle hard fixture helps with fluid flow. You might end up with a sort of p-trap otherwise since the hose will rest along the ground then go up and down at the end.

Get rid of it if you want.

Thanks two bikes! I love that idea. I already have a hose storage tube on the tongue because I hate kneeling in sewage. I'll just build one of these and replace that. Awesome.

I've got the round hose carrier under the trailer and I've got a 2 piece 90 elbow that fits inside with the hoses. Think I got it at camping world.

My trailer came with the round hose tube and of course my hoses will not fit. I use the bumper box for hoses and extra fittings. I pimarily use the SewerSolution. I keep it and all associated parts and pieces in a Lowe's 5 gallon bucket. It is not a one or the other use. They both have their uses and proper place in the scheme of things.

Problem solved. Looked at the fenceposts but ultimately bought an ammo box at the surplus store that fits the nozzle. Will drill some drain holes, maybe spray it black and drill and tap it to the side of the tongue. Ordered a weatherproof biohazard sticker to keep curious hands out.
