Busted the black plastic handle off one of my dump valve gates

Guess it got brittle after all these years. Pulled on it the other day to dump the tank and it crumbled in my hand. Is there any way to fix this without replacing the whole valve shaft?

Sounds like its time for a new valve. Thats what I would do anyway. They do make extension shafts, maybe you could modify one of those to fit your old shaft.

Where would one find an extension shaft? I just had new valves put on the thing so they are not coming off again.

Was it just the handle or the shaft which broke? My handles are threaded onto the shaft.

It was jus the plastic handle. Didn't appear to be threaded on there but rather molded the end of the shaft. The end of the shaft has a machined out area towards the top end to help keep the plastic in place.

I found an extension shaft at my local RV parts house.

What does an extension shaft look like? How long are they?

If a handle can't be found it would be easy to tap threads onto the shaft then tap threads into a piece of soft metal stock for a handle. Use a backup nut to keep the handle in place.----Pieman
