Blue Boy too high for drainage

I bought a 30 gal. Barker waste tote for use with our 2014 FC 25FB, with the intent to use it to drain gray and black water (without solids) into. I discovered that the top of the tote and my AS drain is about the same height so if the tote is under the edge of the AS, it would be difficult if not impossible to fill. I realize I could try to move the tote to a lower location and use a longer hose, but that might not be practical at many RV parks, etc. What are the solutions that others use?

You already have your answer, short of getting a macerator pump. I use an extension hose and find a lower spot for the blue boy.

Why no solids in the blue boy??????? I've used mine for everything for 20 years.

Reason for no solids has nothing to do with the blue boy. I normally use a Sewer Solution which I really like, when I have full hook-up or at a dump station. I just find it is faster and simpler when no solids are involved.

2x8 under wheels will give you an inch and half so two stacked should give you enough height to drain a short hose. Make up a very short one specific for the blue boy, as long as it is only liquids you could use garden hose fitting end cap and find the largest inside diameter garden hose. Sewer Solutions wouldn't work due to the large volume of water used to push the sewage, however it's large diameter 1" hose could be used.

I haven't actually done that; my Interstate discharges through a macerator pump. But it occurred to me when I read your post that if the blue boy can't go down, then the trailer must go up.

That's fine....until you're all set up, and then realize you're too low. I have found the extension hose to be the most flexible......I'm just sayin'....

Yep. Raise the AS or lower the tote. I suppose I was just looking for some "magic" that didn't involve the laws of physics. Doesn't work very often, but then, I have always been a bit crazy. Thanks.

I can see where that would be annoying. But if one is planning to use the Blue Boy, then it's easy enough to raise the trailer when you first park it, even if it later proves unnecessary. Better too high than too low.

If its just for draining and you don't need to leave it under the trailer the whole time, a simple solution would be to drop your nose to raise your butt :-)

the sign lady. If you are referring to the AS, that would not make any difference. The black/gray outlet exits the road side, pretty much mid-way between the front and rear of the AS.

Also keep in mind the tanks should be higher up inside of the AS than the hook up. That might be enough.

I realize you already bought your tote, but another solution would be to go to a smaller tote that sits lower. Barker makes a 15 gallon flat tank that is only 7" tall at the fill cap. Barker 15 Gallon Folding Tent Camper Tote- Along Portable Holding Tank - Portable Holding Tanks - Black Water Tanks - Plumbing

I use a standard Barker 15 gallon tote and even it it sits lower than the 30. I don't have a problem with it.

How do you get that to the dump station? It must weigh about 120lbs when almost full.

Gotta drag it with the tow vehicle right? Or pray the dump station is downhill. I gotta bad feeling that getting it downhill wouldn't be a problem but stopping it might be! Blue boy surfing? Yee-Haw! OH-NO Mr. Bill! Whew boy!

Get a cap for your sewer dump connection that has a garden hose bib. Leave off the hose bib cap and slide the bluboy under it with the blueboy cap removed. You can then burp the dump valve and let water squirt out the hose bib into the uncapped blue boy. If your outlet points down, this works great. Horizontal exits might require a short piece of garden hose to curve into the blueboy.

No hose required...but ya gotta stop filling the blueboy before it overflows!!!

My 15 came with a metal tow hook. One end attaches to the blue boy and the other end loops over your TV tow ball so you can tow it. Heavy? Yes, but with the wheels and handle I can move it myself for short distances, and two people can lift it into the back of the truck if needed. Still much lighter than the 30!

I usually dig a hole for the blue boy if on flat ground. If I'm lucky and have a drop off, I use a long hose.
