Blackwater drain valve problem

Hi All!

I have a 98 Classic Limited 34', and something appears to be hindering the operation of my black water dump valve. It doesnt seem to close all the way, is difficult to move, and it is difficult to secure the dump valve handle retaining clips. When I remove the bayonette connection cap, the drain pipe is full of blackwater debris. I have used lubricant, and worked the valve repeatedly, and had limited success, but within a week or so, the valve seems to still let waste by, only to be stopped by the "cap". Can anyone give me hints on an agent that will dissolve whatever is keeping this valve from getting hung up, or am I looking at a valve replacement?

You may have gotten TP (butt wipes) jamed into the valve. Getting it cleaned out could be a chore. I have no idea where your valve is in relation to the drain, but you will need to try and remove the blockage at that point.

I would first try repeated clean water flushes of the black tank using a Flush King or similar device. I would let it fill up to about full and then let it rip. Hopefully, this would flush out any obstructions near the valve. You might also try the ice thing. With the trailer hooked to the TV, with just a gallon or two of clean water in the black tank, put a couple of bags of ice down the toilet (without the plastic bag, of course). Immediately go for a ride making some quick accelerations and fairly short stops, causing the ice to "scrub" the tank before it melts. Come home and do several more complete flushes of the black tank. If an obstruction is the problem, this should take care of it. If it is in fact a faulty valve that needs replacing, you will have a really clean black tank to work with.

I don't know what lubricant you used, but a spray silicone works much better than something like WE-40.

A 10% hydrochloric acid solution might clear it, if left for a few days.
