Black water tank removal 1975

I'm trying to remove my black water tank below the toilet and can't figure out how to reach the bolts below the floor. Does anyone know any tricks?

Have you pulled the plywood flooring and are trying to lift the tank out from above? It's been a while, but there are no hidden fasteners for the tank itself.

On my '73 the BW tank nested 'loose' inside a galvanized cover and was supported underneath and sides by a foam spacers - no bolts unless you're trying to remove the sheet metal tank house, then its remove belly wrap to drop the angle iron supports. Maybe someone else has a better take on it...

If it is like my '74 Argosy you must disconnect it from the waste dump piping below the tank. My access is thru the storage compartment in front of the rear bumper. There is a big hose clamp that fastens it to the piping. Then the tank slides toward the curb side as you lift it out. There are no fasteners in mine that hold the tank to the floor.

I had no bolts from underneath the tank. It just sat on a platform with foam padding. Up near the top flange, two bolts held the toilet, and the top flange was screwed onto the tank flange. I made a tool to go into the two slots in the top flange out of aluminum. Not sure if yours is the same.

Make sure you have the vent stack disconnected. On my 68, the tank is supported in the galvanized box. The only thing that holds it "up" is the toilet flange which you unscrew from the fitting in the top of the tank. If it won't turn, you may have use a stick and catch the edge of the hole where the toilet bolts are and then gently tap is to the left (lefty loosey" to unscrew it from the tank. You may have to cut the vent pipe, if you do make sure you cut in in a location where you can have good access so you can use a coupler to put it back together.

need advise on removing my tank from my 97 30ft airstream mh have the comode an vent pipe also the drain valves under control. wondering if i can drill two rivets out just inside the drain exces door an remove panel between door an rear wheel to have easy excess to the bolts that hlod the cover up over the tank.
any help really appreciated

Hi Charley, I just ran across your post. My only experience with the black tank is replacing the drain valve. I would like to replace the level sensors so I was checking on your project.
