Hopefully it isn't this, but I wonder if the metal pull rod has come out of the valve blade and so the blade just remains in place (closed) when you pull the rod.

I haven't experienced this, but it is something I have always been concerned about.

If that is the problem, then unless anyone has any good suggestions, I would guess it could mean having the black tank pumped out via the toilet and then replacing the valve assembly. Maybe best left to an RV dealer!

Sure hope I'm wrong, and maybe others have different suggestions as to what the problem might be, and/or if there are easier ways to deal with this. I'd like to know myself for possible future use.

Worse than that is that the tank is clogged at the discharge point. The solutions are not good. Water is your friend. If the tank is not full, fill it with water, drive the trailer around to make sure that the water works on the clog, then drain. If that does not work, water injected from the drain side is the answer...messy yes, but usually effective.

Thank you, one and all, even all those who commented on a similar problem a few months ago. The replies assured me that I've been treating my black water tank properly all these years. So, what happened? The clog was in the throat. Guess that's what happens when you're full of _____t. Thanks, again.

I cannot stress enough that water is your friend. Even if it means dumping tanks more often..use a lot of water in that black water tank...it will save you a lot of headaches in the long run.
