That tube is for a feed from the heating duct that runs on top of the floor inside the camper. I guess the idea was to pump a little warm air in there to keep the tank from freezing.

heating duct

Thanks very much, Jim, that makes sense. I did not see the thermoflex tubing in the duct diagram for the rear bath model in the service manual we have. They do show up in the center bath diagram, though. My first clue should have been that the styrofoam insulation does not go across the 2" hole in the sheet metal surround. I appreciate the help.
