Black Tank Vent

I'm thinking of trying a black tank vent that positions with the wind. Supposedly pulls the sewer fumes off with the direction of the breeze. What do you think?

Downwind is the only direction tank odors are going to go anyway. A 90 degree angle at the same diameter puts up enough resistance that it lessens the effective cross section of the vent. Rain isn't a factor -- the amount of water entering your tank is miniscule. I see them at Camping World and a few other places. Control of odors when underway might be a consideration -- but wouldn't be necessary if the toilet seal retains water and your sink & shower traps hold water. This sounds like a wallet extraction to me.

We'll get gray tank odors because we don't use the shower a lot and sometimes the trap dries out. Diagnosis in an instant and is easy to fix -- a directional vent wouldn't help or hurt that.

You can't ignore the "cool" factor. Doesn't having a plastic weather vane on your roof count for something?

You could even add wings and paint it to look like a pterodactyl!
