Black Tank valve redo

O.k. I've rebuilt my black tank gate valve in the past. Yesterday the pull handle broke at the slide attach point.
So I'm going to have to rebuild once again.... lucky for me it broke as I was trying to lube the blade... AFTER dumping at the Flying J island.
So the question is... as in 1984 AS in their wisdom used a none standard sized valve mating collar. All of todays new hose fittings are too small by about 1/2 an inch. Has anyone had this issue and is there a fix? I'm going to have it apart anyway so I figure this is the time to fix that problem as well. Will a new bottom half with mating collar fit the existing width four screw pattern of the top half?
Got my gloves on and I'm ready to do battle.

I Rebuilt my valves using 1/2 the body from a new "Thetford" Valve.
The screw holes did align. I have removed my "Thedord" hose adaptor and Cemented to a standart fitting, not an easy task because the length for glueing is critical.
Hate to have that baby come off when dumping.

There is an adaptor that goes form the larger Thedford to standard that goes where the cap does as well, one of my rigs has one of those as well.

Where have I seen this??????

This is beginning to look like a out-take from the movie RV.

Camping world had the adaptors for the modern stuff to the Thetford fitting. Cost was about $6. I bought two from a guy on Ebay for $8 including shipping. Makes buying hoses and stuff much easier, but I know I will have to rebuild my valve one day and look forward (NOT REALLY ) to this process.

Well for now I've got the rebuild parts I need from DonMar RV my local AS dealer. I'll install the rebuild kit and new handle/rod tomorrow. I'm still in need of mating a new size fitting to the bottom to bring it into the new world.
Still can't believe my luck at having accomplished the dump prior to this thing breaking....
Could have been much worse for sure!
