Black Tank Capacity
Anyone know the black water tank capacity for a 1971 25' Tradewind Twin? I am guessing somewhere between 10 and 15 gallons but can't find it anywhere in the materials I have.
Thanks.

The black tank on my 66 Trade Wind twin bed was a small son of a gun. 10 gal would be pushing it. It was actually pretty well designed in my view, and had a nice foam pad to sit on. It was under a rusted out galvanized pan under the rear of the trailer. But the dump valve and connection point was not at all convenient unless you are fertilizing a farm field.
Here is a photo of a gray plastic black tank. Hope this helps.

Wow, that's completely different from my set up. A lot must have changed in those 5 years. My tank sits on top of the deck and the low profile toilet sits on top of that. It's rounded in the back and looks like a quarter circle.

Most of them were about 12 gal. Can you fill yours with measured gal water jugs to find out, or does it leak?

12 sounds about right. My tank doesn't leak and your idea of measuring the water that goes in is the next step if I don't get an answer on here.

Oops! I wasn't thinking. Senior moment. Airstreams changed significantly in 69. My son's 69 Globetrotter has an above floor black tank in his "wet bath."

On the Airstream.com web site it states that the holding tank is approximately one week in size. What a way to state a size.

I beg to differ on the "one week" size but I think since I have converted the AS to accommodate 2 adults and 4 kids I am beyond what they had in mind when they designed the black water tank. I think we were getting 2-3 days...
