Basic Question - full hook ups tank use

Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!

My wife and I have just begun learning, looking, and researching. My question is this: if you have a full hook up, do you still have to use your grey tank?

Thanks for info.

If you're hooked up, you still "dump" the tanks. I wouldn't leave valves open; could let sewer smell into the trailer. Let them fill up a bit, then dump.

Short answer is NO. You can leave your gray tank valve open, but you will need to collect some gray water before you leave in order to be able to dump your black tank and flush the line out. Never use your black tank with the dump valve open. The black tank must hold water in order to allow solids to not collect and dry in tank.

Good idea to still use grey tank, helps flush out hose line after flushing Black tank.

You don't *have* to, but things stay cleaner if you let the tank fill and then empty it. The rush of water scours the tank and pushes out any food bits that may be festering on the bottom of the tank.

Letting the black tank fill before emptying is actually very important for the same reason. Let it fill up, empty it, flush it, and then empty the gray tank so the gray water flushes the black tank ick out of your sewer hose.
