A Sewer Solution.... Solution

Our '66 rear bath's dump valve exit is located in the bumper storage area. This design can be awkward especially since I wanted to go the Sewer Solution route. The first photo shows how awkward this location is especially when arthritis is present. Adding to the difficulty a PO replaced the 'lock' tabs on the dump exit askew. The second photo is the Thetford adaptor which I had hoped would bring the SS connection out some. I still found that the garden hose/backup valve would not clear the bumper storage cover. I do not give up easily. The 3rd photo shows the cut in half Thetford adaptor, a 3 1/2" PVC cut to 3" long and the clamp to hold the parts while the epoxy is setting (photo 4) The 5th photo is the completed 'adapter' and photo 6 the new Sewer Solution...Solution. Footnote; In retrospect I wish I had used a clear 'extention' tube. However, this was so easy and cheap to make that I probably will locate some clear 3 1/2" tube and construct another one.

I have a similar dilemma, in that the dump outlet is set back in such a way that the black dum handlke interferes with the sewer solution water hose.
I meant to buy one of the clear extensions a while back, but keep forgetting to follow through. Thanks for reminding me.
I find the swere solution near ideal for my purpose. I love the way it works.
However, i still carry a slinky style hose to do an occasional fast flush at a dump station or hookup site. The serwer solution does drain sort of slowly.

Excellent solution and nice work. The forums could use a file folder system that would document these kinds of fixes etc without having to search through the foums using key words. Sometimes you find what your looking for and sometimes you may read many posts withoutfinding anything.

very creative and nice pics!

but seems like a lot of fabrication effort,

with ready made adapters and extensions widely available.

Thetford to valterra

Well I'm liking what Mr. Neil has done. He has extended the Thetford to Valterra adaptor. This is a good way of eliminating extra fittings and extensions, thereby reducing opportunity for sewage leakage, fewer fittings to break, misplace etc. I'm giving him a 10 for the whole shabang!! Whatever it takes to keep it flowing in the right direction.
And I really like my sewer solution, it's a little slower than the 3" slinkey, but I've never had anyone honking at me in the dump area. The sewer solution will "lay down" a very nice defense shield as you use pressure water to assist in the solid breakdown.!!And yes mine will pump uphill as advertised!

Mr. craftsman- there is a section at the top of the page called "reviews", you should check it out sometime. this is a good forum feature altho it is not being used to its best ability. Kinda gotta find it on your own!

The RV Plumbing Adaptors are 5" long. Then a Thetford adaptor will be needed taking it up to about 6 1/2". My fabrication is a shade over 4" which is almost the max length for the Sewer Solution drain hose to clear the opening in the storage bottom. The clear 5" extention is a good idea. For my kind of application I would cut the dump drain end (Valterra ears) off at 2" leaving 3" of clear tube with the mount nubs. Then cut and glue the Thetford 'ears' to the cut end. It is not difficult...just make the cuts square. I used a table saw.

Neil.

We just bought a Sewer Solution Kit and three extra 10' drain hose extenders at Camping World in Tallahassee on the way home from Jacksonville last Saturday. Lucy is still set up in Daddy's yard in Jacksonville, so we haven't gotten to try it out yet. We've got a 50' run to make to Daddy's sewer clean-out. This run is on a very slight up-grade. Our slinky hose needed a lot of lifting and coaxing to get it fully drained into the sewer. We are hoping that the Sewer Solution will do the trick for us. We are planning to run the last 10' to the sewer drain with 1" PVC as recommended in the Sewer Solution in structions.

We are headed back over to Jacksonville in a couple of days. If anyone has any tips or dos and don'ts, we would appreciate hearing them. If this Sewer Solution unit performs as advertised, we plan to use it all the time.

Sewer Solution

You won't need the PVC. I run 60' up hill at my winter site and the sewer solution pumps it with no problem.

Thanx for the response. I am assuming that you are pleased with the way that it performs. Do you use 6 sections of the Sewer Solution hose?

You know, People, after getting my Sewer Solution and making the adapter I have yet to use it. We have been on 2 boondocking trips since but dumped at nearby dump facilities. We have a house cleanout about 50' from near the garage where I sometmes park the TradeWind before moving it up the hill to the RV pad. The next camping trip I should save 'our crap' and take it home to try out my SS. Whenever possible we use campground toilets but night time ventures outside are discouraged. I dumped on the way home last time. Lynn was filling out the envelope to insert the dumping fee and muttered, "This should be half price for us." When I asked, "Why, because we are senior citizens?" "No!" she exclaimed, "Because we did no number 2s (I 'cleaned' that up) in the tank this trip!"
Next BIG trip is NorCal's LSA in Oct. The SS WILL be used.
