69 Dump Valve. Need Help/Advice!

I am tring to replace the leaky dump valve on on 69 Overlander. I removed the theford valve and collector. I took it to 3 different RV dealers (including the airstream dealer) They don't have a clue. I talked to theford on the phone and emailed them photos.

They said it is discoutinued. The new slide ez valve may work... or they can sell me a repair kit. The collector is unavailable. I had to cut the sink drain to get the old collector off.

I bought a regular black valve and connector. It will not fit up to the theford piece next to the tank. I tried to take it off... I didn't want to trash the tank so I stopped.

Now what?

Thanks,
Bren

Bren,

I do not understand what you mean by "collector". Could you please elaborate?

There is a good chance your Airstream was originally equipped with the same Slide EZ valve my Overlander still has. Details on how it was rebuilt are at my web site (link in my signature).

The "Collector" (as thetford calls it) is after the valve. You connect the sewer hose to it. Here are some photos...

This is the peice that is on the tank.

This is the valve and collector:

This is the side of the valve that goes against the tank (see 1582.jpg)

Tom great site... You have done alot to your overlander. I was reading about your axle delima. I am getting ready to change mine out. I work for an automotive company. One of the master techs said that he could get the job done with dexter parts for around $500. He really knows what he is doing. I will try to document it and share the results with you.

Bren,

From your pictures, it appears you have a rebuildable Slide EZ valve.

Other than the challenge of re-hooking up the drain sink line to it, what is wrong with the collector? InlandRV.com may be able to sell you a new one.

Good luck,
Tom
