68 Safari sewer hose connection

Hey all,
I need help with the sewer hose connector that fits onto the holding tank for a 68 Safari. I've bought 3 now that I thought would work but they all do not fit. It is still the original fitting on the tank and all of the new hose connectors have a lip on them that dont allow them to draw tight. Any suggestions to where I can find one asap, I'm going out in two weeks and would like to have one before then.
Also, I havent posted in some time, but am 90% complete on the restoration. All new everything from the shell and floor out. I have lots of pics and when I have time, I'll post them.

Thanks, Scot

Scott, you are trying to use Valterra sized fittings, that can by bought in RV stores and Wal-mart. You need Thetford sized fittings. You can find them at Dyers RV online. Search for "Thetford". Get one to fit into your sewer hose and get at least one that has the garden hose attachment, for when you want to use a blue tank. THEN, keep your Valterra, so that you can dump your blue tank. whew, got all that?

Thanks, I think I got it. I already have the one with the garden hose connection. I'll look at the site you gave me for the Thetford. And yes, I bought all 3 fittings from local RV dealers.
Thanks again, Scott

Forget the Thetford

Any reputable RV dealer will have an adapter from Thet. to Valtera and then you are in sync with the rest of the modern world. Every hose and fitting from then on off the shelf will fit. Thetford is overpriced and always hard to find. This way anybody's hose can be borrowed if you're in a bind in line at the dump station!

While I agree you need the adapter, the extra length it adds in day to day use makes it awkward, given the configuration of our dump valve. Perhaps the 67-68's are different, I don't remember where it's located, but I know that for ours, that extra inch or two makes it hard to get the bend right to get the hose out of the belly pan when attached to the valve.
