1968 28 ft ambassador tank capacities

Someone here give me the info? Also, is there a chart that has the info for all years? I am shopping for another 'stream but have lost this info.

I have done quite a bit of research on the first generation Argosy travel trailers (1972-1979), and have a comparatively large file of original literature and manuals. Should you have a question about first generation Argosys, I shall be happy to try to answer your question.

Airstream web site specs say 30 gallon fresh water, and about 1 week black tank. Anybody know the black tank capacity in gallons??

I don't know if there was a tremendous change between 1964 and 1968, but my '64 Overlander has a black tank capacity of approximately 13 gallons. Traveling solo, I can easily get seven to ten days use before I must take the coach to the dump station.

P.S.: From what I can remember from our Vintage Airstream roundtable discussions, I don't believe that the black tank capacity changed much between 1964 and 1970 for the rear bathroom tandem axle coaches.

Thanks Kevin, I thought from prior reading of some threads before I got my '81 Excella II, I saw something like 15 gallons, but I believe there might be a chart somewhere with all the years with tank capacities.

Its not much, I have mine out of my 69 29" Ambassador. I can take a PIC and post it for you. I'm thinking it was like 20 Gals? I'm putting in new black 27 gallon, adding a 27 gallon grey, and a 30 gallon fresh water.

The stock size replacement black tank in my 68 is about 16 gallons. With two of us camping, I can go about 5 days on the black tank. I put a 30 gallon fresh tank in to replace the factory tank which was missing. In retrospect I'd just get a 20 gallon since we nearly alway say at campgrounds with hookups.

Where did you get your fresh water tank? Did you get any warrantee.? I am also thinking 21 gallons.

Rogerdodger where are you thinking about putting it? Under the floor or up above under the Groucho? If its under the floor were you going to keep it within the depth of the frame? Most are 5" tall. It really limits the tanks you can find. Inca plastics make holding tanks that might work. Www.incaplastics.com I think. Also plasticmart has a lot of tanks.

Yep my 68' has 16 gallon black. Was a 30 gallon fresh, now a 40 gallon. Also a 26 gallon in front of the axels. And 2 grey tanks, one between the axles and one behind for a total of 65 gallons.

My Argosy had the fresh water tank up front under the Goucho. The Goucho, and tank are out, my Argosy living room is empty, and I am just going to put 2 recliners and a TV in there, and I want to put a small fresh water tank under the street side bed. I will add larger propane tanks and spare tire to the tongue to replace lost tongue weight. We don't dry camp, so water capacity not critical. I could patch the old tank but it may not fit under the bed, so I want to get a new one, but so far, the venders I contacted do not warrantee their tanks.
