I am trying to put my 1964
Globtrotter back together after replacing the rear section of plywood subfloor. I have run into a little snag trying to mount the black tank and galvinized box. When I took out the galvinized box it was very rusted and missing all of the bottom and most of the sides. I did not find any foam blocks and I only found one crossbar. The cross bar is different than what I have seen described here on the forum. It reaches from frame to frame but in the middle there is a square U-shaped section that fits nicely around the dump valve section of the black tank. From looking at the tank it looks as if the tank rode on the cross bar directly, But I wonder if this happend after the box rusted out. When I put the tank and box back together do I need to nest the tank in foam? And when I put the crossbar in place does it go through the box or on the outside of the box. I am leaning towards putting it through the box, because of the shapeof the crossbar, and the height of the box compared to the height of the frame, there's not enough room to mount the crossbar on the outside. Does anyone know how this was setup originally. Thanks for your help.
