With a pump system it is usually pump on at 20 lbs off at 40.

If yours is a tank pressurized with an air pump the same pressures would be about right.

My 61 was the pressurized system , however we converted to a shurflo pump

Thanks Rick,

Changing it to a pump seems like the smart thing to do. How difficult is it to change to a pump?

Regards,
Devon

You will need a check valve, a water pump, and drill a hole in the fill cap for ventalation.

You can also upgrade the system, since you will doing the other things, by installing a plastic water tank.

I am surpised that your metal tank has lasted 50 years.

Andy

Andy pretty well covered it. There is a check valve built in the shurflo 2088 pumps but a second won't hurt as back leakage thru the check valve can often be the answer to unexplained pump cycling.

My 50 year old steel tank is still doing fine
