Why did they use this?
I'm finishing up getting rid of the old copper water lines and replacing it with propex. Coming out of the fresh water tank is this rubber hose with a spring fed through it. Why did they use this? whats the point of the spring?

The spring prevents the collapse of the hose since it is on the suction side of the pump.
