Water troubles...

I hooked my hose to the water inlet on my trailer today for the first time in a lonnnnng time. Mistake. With "city" pressure, I was getting trickles and dirt coming out of the faucets. I'm guessing that some of Florida's wonderful critters got in there and clogged the regulator. I pulled the two shut off valves just after the regulator, and hooked my air hose to the water inlet outside the trailer. With air pressure through the line, I was barely getting enough air flow to blow out a match. Water is getting through very slowly. Is there a cleanout for the regulator?

The picture below shows what looks like two areas that might be able to be removed. I don't want to fool with it without some knowledge of what to expect. I do get water to the kitchen sink, but once the faucet is opened, it surges and drains out. Definitely not enough water pressure coming through. Oh, and the first few times I got any water through the lines, I got tons of junk in the screens. I took them off of the bath sink and kit. sink for better flow.

And is that a pressure relief valve just below it? It is missing something on top. It doesn't leak. I don't have any plumbing leaks... fortunately.

I checked previous posts and saw that others have had a clogging problem, but no one really explained the solution. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The bottom piece is the pressure relief valve, but it is not gonna work with the threaded plug in it!

The top bell shaped item is the pressure regulator. It is the first thing that the water comes to, so it is normally the first thing to get clogged up.

Here is a Link to new ones. At the posted prices I think it is a R&R issue vs a repair one. Besides who knows if you can get a repair kit once you have it apart.

The only other option would be to attempt to back flush the system, but I think the pressure regulator used by Airstream had a check valve in it too

Thenewkid64 is correct. Replace the regulator and if you use a pressure relief valve, plumb the water drain to the outside. You will be glad you did.

This thing was really getting the best of me, so I went back out to the trailer this evening and started to dismantle the water infeed just above the regulator. Sure enough, just in the elbow above the regulator is the back flow valve. This sucker was caked with crud so bad, that I am surprised anything got through. I cleaned it out, cleaned up all the fittings, put on some fresh teflon tape and reassembled the whole thing. Turned the water on from the house, and SUCCESS! Great water pressure, and one added bonus. NO LEAKS!

I have one of those inline pressure regulators on the outside of the trailer for added protection.

Lesson learned... Get a screw in plug to prevent critters from finding their way in there. A cheap solution... for a change! Home Depot tomorrow!

I got the plastic plug with the air hose fitting so that I can hook the little air compressor to the plug and blow the lines out when winterizing.
Most RV supply places have them, and I think I got this one at Wal Mart.

my pipes in the rear of my A/S have started banging when I run water in the tub. If I release some water thru the toilet, it stops as long as the water is running in the potty. It's not happening with the kitchen sink. Could this pressure regulator be the problem? I've tried bleeding the lines for air but am not having any luck. It was so bad last night, I thought it was going to throw me off this hill and into the lake! LOL. This just started last night but really was loud and shaking. Needless to say, I am carrying water to the tub until I find the problem. Plumbing is not one of my strong points.....
