Water tank overflow?

Trying to figure out what has happened. I was filling up my water tank and left it unattended and it overflowed. But...it looks like something else happened. Water is gushing out the bottom of the tank. Did I maybe bust an old crack repair? Or is it there some sort of overflow protection?

Could be an air vent for the tank. If overfilled it would let some water out but would stop and not empty the tank. Did it stop fairly quickly, letting water out?

It went from gushing to trickling. Not emptying the tank so far. Also, I'm not parked level. Slight tilt to the curbside. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

There must be a vent or something because once I leveled out the trailer, it stopped leaking and my monitor says I have a full tank...I'm going to hope that is the case.

I think you might have popped off the vent. There is a smallish vinyl vent hose that goes from the tank to the filler port. If you fill too quickly one of the 2 ends can pop off and leak. I had mine come off and had a leak into the belly.... The vinyl usually does not split or crack, rather a clamp comes loose.

I know on my Classic, if I insert my fill hose into the fill port too far, I get a tremendous venting of air out of the little vent hole to the point it will actually whistle. I figured out if I back the hose out a little, I have less escaping air from the vent tube, thus a lesser chance of popping the vent hose off the tank, or fill port. I had the factory tell me that they have seen owners be able to fill the tank so quickly that despite being vented, the tank can crack on the top from the pressure of rapid filling!! BAD
I hope this helps!

Filled tank, water pouring out beneath

Mine does the same thing if I overfill it. I believe there's an overflow vent. There's no damage (to mine) when the overflow stops.

This thread (and others) show it's common.

Eastern South Dakota is very pretty with hills, rivers, and trees.
