Water pressure Regulator. Late Model AS

I have a 2011 and when I tool possession from the dealer they said I didn't have to buy an aftermarket fresh water pressure regulator as AS have them built in. Now that we have a leak they are telling me that there is no built in regulator - anyone know the truth of the situation?

Airstream Customer Relations rep Dave Schumann wrote an article in June 2012 Blue Beret magazine that it is built into the city hookup. Look at the city hookup to see part number 601392-05 Shurflo water pressure reducing valve, it is preset at 65 psi, not adjustable.

The regulator is built into the back side of the round piece that has the hose connection on the side of your trailer. It regulates pressure when there is water flow but continuous high pressure from the outside will eventually leak through and you will have high pressure inside your trailer. I cut off flow to my trailers at the hydrant whenever I leave the campground. Six years ago, I had the misfortune of receiving a cell phone call that water was pouring out of my trailer when I was 50 miles away. I learned my lesson.

My 2011 International's user manual says a regulator is fitted as standard. Dwightdi has the right idea, though; sound advice indeed.

it's actually all the way up front away from the city water intake. We did put on an aftermarket pressure limiter which helped but once there's a leak I'm afraid that getting the water pressure under 65 may not change the leak

Try to find the source of the leak, there are many possibilities including fridge and air conditioning drains. The Airstream is a closed plumbing system, when hooked to a campground water source they use a water backflow preventer, so high pressure can build up inside your plumbing due to heat expansion. Turn off the water supply, open a faucet and see if the leak stops.

Here's a post I recently put when I discovered a leak. I think back now that I noticed this leak at a campground that had a warning to use pressure regulators. I didn't know that I had one already installed and so always used one attached on the hose. I'm not sure what the effect of double pressure regulator is.

We put one on ahead of the water supply hose as well ... cheap insurance for the hose + AS ...

I also use an additional regulator at the hookup and did check with Airstream. The technician said that he didn't think it was necessary but said wouldn't hurt anything. I consider it insurance too.

Hi, I also have an external water pressure regulator. I only use it when the camp ground has high water pressure to keep my hose from blowing up. The camp grounds with the high water pressure have always told me when checking in.
