tank out, best way to clean

greetings:

during frame repair/paint, removed the H2O tank from my 72 globetrotter. appears to be in great shape, no leaks. while it resides safely in my garage during futher work, what would be the best way to clean this baby out? no debris inside, but through the 1.5 inch opening, I can see various "scums". I was thinking of filling with ice, rock salt, and some cold water, give a good shake to "scrub" it. then a good flush. any body have other suggestions would be appreciated.

10% pool chlorine and water. It will eat the scum. It may smell like chlorine after you rinse it, but that will go away.

I have worked with chlorine and I think it works great. If you want to eat the scum immediately you can use muratic acid. Where protective clothing , rubber gloves, maske and goggles. I would do a 10% solution of muratic acid also.

Always wear protection.

How do you empty the water from the fresh water tank? This might seem like a simple question but I have never owned a TT of this magatude. Only a pop-up and it did not have anything. Tent on wheels with a built-in stove coleman stove and 12v lights. Thanks for the info on the pool chlorine mix.

You should have a pump. Just get a siphon and use it, or rent a pump.

great idea. will use this technique over the weekend. as far as draining, in the trailer it has a very slow drain valve. easier to pump the water out.
