Tail-end copper tubing

A capped copper tubing about a foot long is sticking out on the mid rear compartment and out to the open ground on my 73 rear bath international sovereign, just like a tail. Does anyone have a similar or ought I just remove it and capp it shorter? It's part of the rear sink faucet tubing. Not sure of its function? Thanks for any help.

A photo might help but usually that's where the city water inlet is located on trailers of that era. There should be a garden hose fitting on it, I believe.
