Alleluia! But on the other hand, our current Shureflo pump does scare away bears, wolves and coyotes...

Pentair / ShurFlo

www.shurflo.com

What I could see of the part number is: 4008-101-A65

Even with Air in the Line and some water... it runs quiet and, of course, gets some gurgling of water and air still in the system. I have already drained the hot and cold water lines and Fresh Water tank. Did not pressure the lines to blow out any excess water... I will get that remaining water when we get ready to pressure the water lines and leaving to some Off the Grid in nowhere Rocky Mountains.

I did a Thread years ago about HOW to PURGE THE AIR FROM THE HOT and COLD WATER LINES. There is a system that works... 100% of the time.

For KPM... purrs is Good. Coffee Grinding... rocks... sounds are your other option. Anyone who has had the older water pump understands.

Hermes... I liked it about 3AM when this Water Pump Grinder wanted to... Burp a couple times to get back to 100% pressure.

Anyone... who had the OLD SYSTEM knows and understands. The 'young folk' who have new Airstreams... you are already spoiled and have no reason to miss the Good Ole Days of PRE LED's, Marathon Tires and uncomfortable mattresses. We... the Old Time Airstreamers... complained a lot to help the late comers move into comfortable Airstreams today.

Well, not really, but we will take some of the credit.

I just looked at my pump and it’s the same shurflo part no. And it’s very noisy must be more to it than just the pump causing noise?

Colonel... maybe I need to break mine in to achieve that level of noise.

I will be putting a piece of padding in between the hot water line that is resting on the top of the pump. My pump is on the curb side, under the right closet with a separate door to have access. Very easy to get to, even the screen fliter is in a good location.

The unit is mounted on the floor. I may go to Las Vegas Airstream and check out some other 2019 and 2020 models they may be sneaking onto the empty space we left last week.

I also have a 2019 International (23FB Serenity, S/N 5455XX, a little earlier than Ray's)) purchased in October 2018. It has the ShurFlo 4008-101-A65 pump. (I verified this.) I would not call it quiet and it cycles on and off at low flow rates. If I forget to turn the switch off when I go to bed, the occasional one second "burp" is enough to wake me at night. There must be a difference we have not identified yet.

My photo is not as clear... but the closest I could get. This is taken from the hallway. I needed flash. During the day I can get further out and in focus.

Serial Number on Airstream Component List: #082180 Trailer was built April 2019.

Black magic marker says '27FB' which is our model for 2019.

When we are out a couple weeks I will not hesitate to post what we discover...

The possibility of silent water flow is great news! I have two old Shur-Flos that I have mounted in hundreds of configurations, but still they sound like a freight train. I even took one completely apart to see if there was anything that could be modified inside. I have changed fittings, distance to elbows and t's, pipe lengths, pipe diameters, added accumulation tanks, mounted on rubber feet, mounted on silicon pads, even suspended from bungee cords like a studio microphone, but these things are just LOUD. Hopefully I have better luck on the next build with the new model and variable pressure.

Water Pump Location on 2005 Safari

Okay, so this may sound dumb but I can't determine location of water pump on our 2005 safari twin. Have been told it is supposed to be underneath the closet on the curb side, but do not see or find an access panel that will open. Pictures would help immensely.

If memory serves me right, there is a closet on the curbside, and to the left a pantry? If right, there are two squares under each. The one under the closet-- give that square a pull from the left. It's a fake door. Behind that should be the water pump on that model trailer if I'm right.

**edit** here is a pic of what I think is the model you are talking about. On the left is the closet and that small space under the closet is the fake door. Either way, the pump should be behind that small square fake thing.

Wait, that is the model no. of my noisy pump!

This thread really excited me as I hate the sound of the water pump. I hopped on Amazon and ordered the pump. Went out to the Airstream to see if the replacement would be as simple as I hoped and what do I see...Model number 4008-101-A65. for reference I have a 2017 19'CCD.What am I missing here?

My husband switched it out this spring. He said it was a piece of cake. Ours is a 2010, and the pump was connected to hard tubing. Not sure if yours is. It is important to switch the hard tubing in the pump area to flexible tubing. (Which I am guessing is 50% of the noise reduction, because the hard tubing vibrated. What took them so long to figure that out?)

******

All I had to do was turn on the water pump and knew where it was from the noise for the 2006 and the 2014. Just find a small door on the floor, below a cabinet that has no handle. Most likely behind one of those.

The 2014 25 foot had it located below the closet, behind the handleLESS door. You just had to get a finger nail in there and pull. It was on hinges.

Since I found out I had the Shurflo 4008-101-A65. I followed kpm's instructions on adjusting the flow pressure. Much, much, quieter.
It took a small 5/64" allen key, clockwise 1/4 turn. Thanks for a great thread!

Someone said that the pump was a multi-speed pump. I looked at the spec sheets for all the pumps under the link supplied and they all turn off at a pressure in the 50's and turn on at a pressure in the 40's. I don't think they are multi-speed.

The big thing to reduce noise is to put a flexible tubing loop between the pump and the trailer plumbing. There are threads on here about that.

Shur flow noise

I installed a shur flow years ago, and after listening for 40,000 miles, I found it gets noisy only when there is air in the system, generally after filling up. Then it can be irritating. Very quiet the remainder of the time, but not silent. Possibly I'll get a new pump one day!

If anyone encounters me... at a Service Station or Campsite... stop by and I will demonstrate my 'special, quiet for some reason unknown' water pump. It has crimped pex in red and white.

From my photo... it will be difficult to pick me out in a crowd.

I drained the water lines once we returned home from the Las Vegas Airstream dealership. I can turn it on and the quiet purring of the motor makes the water still in the lines... gurgle. I did not blow out the lines, as we will are not planning on sitting around here too much longer.

In a couple weeks we will be outfitted for a 'Beat Up the Airstream Off the Grid Boondocking' trip to Utah, Wyoming and Montana. If that does not make a water pump Roar Like a Lion... nothing will.

Maybe like the One in a Thousand Winchester Rifle... this is the one in a hundred?
