Replace Pressure Relief Valve
My pressure relief valve was leaking (again). This time I am pretty sure the pressure was not too high and it should not have leaked. Can I use a generic replacement or where can I get the part?
Thanks,
Marshall

I purchased our T&P valve at www.mcmastercarr.com.

I did see a plethora of valves in the McMaster site, which valves will work for an Airstream application?

The McMaster 4612K16 will work. They're cheaper at Grainger. Also most plumbing supply houses.

The description says this is an adjustable pressure relief valve. What would be an appropriate release pressure to set it at?

I would start at 75 lbs. Make sure you plumb the exhaust to an outside location. Keep the extra springs in case you need to go higher.

When I spoke to RV Supply and Plumbing Supply Outlets first I had to repeat myself 3 times I was not talking about a relief valve for the hot water heater. Then I got a response like I was speaking ancient Aramaic.
Are these type of pressure relief valves no longer used in RVs? Was Airstream the only manufacturer to ever use them?
Anyway Home Depot had the almost the same valve for $16.

Not real sure of the "Necessity" of pressure relief valve, if water heater has one and "City water" has Regulator that valve is redundant

Actually, that's not necessarily true. A pressure regulator guards against overpressure from municipal water. What guards against overpressure from your pump (i.e. pump doesn't shut off when it's supposed to)? A pop-off valve or pressure relief valve. Depends on just where in the system your pressure relief valve would be installed. If it's at the municipal water inlet, then yes, it's redundant. If it's downstream of the pump, it's not.
