Recycle that old copper pipe
Last year I took out all of the old freeze damaged copper pipe in my 22' Argosy and replaced it with PEX. I saved all the old pipe in a cardboard box, cut up and folded into small pieces.
Today I finally got to town where there is a metal recycling location. I was told that my pipe was "type 2" quality, as it had solder and some other stuff involved, but still they took it with no problem. When I went into the office to get my money, they gave me almost $50!!!
It was about 20# of copper.
No wonder the copper theft issue is huge.
So, don't toss that copper in the dumpster if you are re doing your plumbing. $50 for the junk is pretty amazing. That more than paid for the PEX that I purchased for the replacement job.
