Quick Connect - water inlet?

I get tired of fussing with the threaded hose connection on the city water supply. Anyone using a quick connect/dis-connect on their water supply inlet?

I found some at McMaster Carr, but I would like to find a cheaper solution if possible.

Thanks,

I've been using a quick disconnect for years. The one I have is made for RV's:

RVH2O - KwikLink, Home Page

Unfortunately this website is not very informative. You used to be able to buy these over the i-net but apparently not anymore. They are still available - there was a dealer at the Quartzsite RV Show selling them. They do cost more than the ones sold in hardware stores but these are right angle connectors that you can't get in the stores.

I use a brass QD from Ace Hardware --- and have the pressure regulator in line also. Sort of a lengthy stack - but works fine for me thus far!

Greetings from the Florida Panhandle

We have been using garden hose quick connects for years. We use them on every hose connection on the Airstream. We buy ours in the RV section at Wal-Mart or at Lowes. We would not be without these. The quick connects give us a lot of flexibility to easily switch hoses around quickly and easily. We even use one to connect the water supply line to the Sewer Solution.

Brian,

Do all newer coaches come with the sewer flush connection above the potable water connection?

If so, someone please tell the factory to stop that.

It's an optional feature, and all the ones that I have noticed are placed like mine.

I put the little signs on them to avoid confusion.

I have a 2008 International and the sewer flush is essentially at one end and the potable water is at the other. Not one above the other.

Having said that, I do think that AS could do a better job indicating which is which because, at one rally I tried to connect the potable water to the flush. Happily I stopped, before I made a huge mistake.

I watch the length and leverage of anything I add at the coach end of a hose. I've tried a cheapo right angle adapter and it leaked like a sieve. Always put any adapters at the city water end of the hose. The industry-standard plastic water hookups on our newer model Airstreams just aren't that strong -- http://www.airforums.com/forums/f443...oor-38774.html

I use the quick disconnect garden hose connectors on all my fresh water hoses, etc.

I've always bought them from my local Harbor Freight store, but you can also get them online, and they go on sale every couple of months...

- Harbor Freight Tools - Quality Tools at the Lowest Prices

I use a male-male QD fitting screwed into the trailer's pressure water connection - I then use a female-female QD screwed into the brass cap that's attached to the small chain...then it's easy to take off the cap and install my fresh water hose with the QD fitting already installed...

I keep a spare QD fitting hooked into the other end of the water supply hose so I can screw it, hand tight onto the RV park's water faucet and then easily hook up my hose - just remember to take it with you when you pack up and leave!!!

Using these QD's makes it much easier to hook up hose in parks as you are only screwing in the QD adapter, and not 'wrestling' with an unruly hose, especially in cold weather!

Try em', you'll like em'!
