Question on fresh water / Salem Rally
I am not sure what happened to our fresh water ...
when I drained for winterization this year, it had a very strong odor - stale or putrefied, I would say. The fresh water had been in the tank from July until September with the last use on our return trip from Salem. Black / gray was drained upon return home, but fresh was left alone since we sometimes take off on a moments notice. We have previously left water in the fresh tank for almost three months with no ill effects.
This has never happened to me before over the last 15 years. Before the int rally, I drained the fresh water tank, added fresh water and a bit of bleach; drained it again and refilled the tank ... still with a slight odor of bleach present at the taps. When we got to Salem, we hooked up to the water supply provided, but pressure was essentially non-existent; so, we disconnected almost immediately. Wondering if there may have been some unknown " ingredient" hidden in the "hosing" used to get the water to the outer edge of the fairgrounds...
Did any one else have this problem after attending the international rally in Salem, OR this year? Any connection to the algae issues at Salem? Or, should I look elsewhere for possible contamination that led to the repulsive odor coming from the fresh water system? Any other ideas to help avoid this in the future? I guess it means more bleach again next spring - too late to do anything for this winter but the odor inside the AS is quite strong - still!
