Pump won't turn off

OK so I finally got to the point of putting water to my Argosy 22 and it does not leak anywhere!! Only problem is that the water pump will not turn off. I have Excellent pressure everywhere, more than I figured I would, but the pump will not stop running. There is a little diode looking thing that has a wire coming from each end that is attached on one side where the pump plugs into the wires, but it is just dangling there and not attached to anything on the other side. It does not seem to effect the pump, like I said, it pumps great, it just will not turn off! Please help. Thanks, Danny

What kind of pump, how old. Sounds like a bad pressure switch in the pump.

If the pressure switch was bad and the pump continued to pump it would bog the pump down against the system pressure.

If the pumps continues to run the diaphragm may be leaking back and not allowing the pressure switch to reach cutoff or you are pumping water somewhere, major leak.

I am assuming you do not have an older demand system where the pump maintains a pressure head on the air above the water line in the tank. If that is the case and there in very little water in the tank the pump will run for a long time before it can build pressure in the tank.
