Oh where, oh where is that leak coming from?
Leaks in the AS are very frustrating to locate and correct. During the past few weeks we noticed water coming out from under the shower. First it appeared in the hallway under the access hatch below the shower. After significant searching it appeared we needed to remove the caulking between the two halves of the shower and replace with new caulk. We still had a leak.
Re-caulked around the shower door. Still leaked. Moved into a site for a month and all of the sudden no leak. But wait, now the leak appeared on the carpet in the bedroom. Remove all the access panels and the heating duct work from the bedroom to gain a better view... standing water on the wheel well. How can the shower still be leaking.
Search the forums and finally find a similar situation. The leak only occurs when the water heater is working (which of course, occurs when you are getting ready to use the shower). After stuffing myself into the access hatch below the wardrobe while the water heater is working, I see water coming out of the city water inlet housing and slipping down in between the outer and inner walls and pooling on the rear side of the wheel well near the wall to the bedroom!
Finally, replaced the Shurflo water inlet (Amazon.com, shipped overnight) and (fingers crossed) so far no leaking and the water pressure in the trailer is much better than previous. No way I could reach the back side of the inlet from inside the AS but fortunately, I was able to remove the old one and install the new one completely from the outside.
Pictures below show new caulking that needed to be done anyway but didn't solve the issue, picture of back side of water inlet through the hole where the heater duct goes, and finally the new inlet on the road side of the trailer. Though I always thought this was a metal fitting it is actually chrome colored plastic.
Oh yeah, I cleaned and re-caulked the eye brow in the window right above the bedroom wall with TremPro thinking that might have caused the leak. I really hope I'm done with this for awhile.
