No water pressure past regulator

Put a new hot water tank in and it tested out fine. Disconnected city water supply to put on door and remove drain valve (replaced with plug so door would fit). Now have nearly no pressure past the city water pressure regulator. could it be blocked or stuck? Any way to blow back or release?

There is a screw at the top of the regulator, that permits adjustment, to a point.

Try that before anything else.

There is a check valve after the regulator, that could be blocked, or hung up. However, check valves normally leak instead of blocking, when they malfunction.

Thanks Andy

Thought of the adjustment screw but wanted to check first.

Found the problem. Might be of use to others. It seems we left the cap off the city water connection for a couple of days. Something tried to build a nest inside (Wasps?). When we applied pressurized city water, the nest jammed up against the checkvalve and plugged the pipe. Had to completely disassemble the pipe and checkvalve then clean out blockage then sterilize the parts. All good now.

You can install a small metal screen that's part of the washer, at the city water inlet, just in case you might leave the cap off again.
