check valve/regulator

I have a similar problem, does anyone know where these are located in a 1973 Tradewind? Thanks!

In my 73 30' rear bath/center twin, I vaguely remember (it's been more than 25 years ago) the regulator being inside the rear compartment near the floor. There was a big brass plug in the base of the regulator that covered a copper/brass removable screen. That screen would corrode, turn green, and get full of sediment. I'm not sure if it was original or had been added by a previous owner. In those days I was using the trailer at the beach where well water was the norm, also with no inline filter.

No water from city line

My mom went out for a while yesterday morning and when she came back two of her AS neighbors had fixed the problem. It was the valve. A couple of years ago the inlet was replaced because it was leaking. They took the valve from the old one and switched it out for the "new" one. Problem solved. Once again proving that the best thing about Airstreams are the people that own them. Thanks, everyone.

The spring loaded check valve at the city water inlet is the first thing that comes to mind. I would think that even if stuck, the pressure of the city water in the hose should
open it - but maybe not!

I know this sounds like a stupid question. Is there water coming out of the trailer park city water?

This story sounds strangely familiar. If your mom is at TR, it was discovered that one of those little lizard guys climbed into the trailer hose connection. In this case, when the hose was connected and turned on the little lizard got squashed up against the filter at the high pressure water regulator. I cut the plex pipe, fished the dead guy out and reconnected the water pipes. The solution would be to screw the ends of the water hose together when it's not being used and to screw a plastic plug into the hose connection on the trailer.

I had the same problem with my 2001 Safari when it was about 4 or 5 years old. I bought it new in 2001 and still own it. I ended up replacing the water pump (cost about $75) and the problem was solved. I thought it may have been caused by a plugged check valve in the pump. Not sure, but the pump replacement solved the problem and it's been about 10 years with no repeat problems.
