How do I drain fresh water holding tank?

I have a 27' International CCD and I cannot find the drain for the fresh water holding tank. The manual says that it is on the outside of the tank around the middle under the trailer but I cannot find the drain valve at all. Please help.

On my 2012 International there are a couple of ways. on the left side behind the wheels there is a white colored valve that is a gravity drain. Just forward and toward the middle are two red handles. Turning both those red handles while turning on the water pump will quickly empty the fresh water.

It should be a small white plastic T handle valve just inside the passenger side wheels.

I have a 2008 27FB and I slotted a small aluminum tube (an el-cheapo giveaway AAA flashlight) as a tool to open and close the valve. The valve handle is on top of the fitting. If it's tight be very careful not to break the valve if you use a tool.

I have a confession.....We've owned ours since new in '04 and I always opened the pitcock valves on the bottom of the water tank and turned on the pump to drain the tank.
This year our Airstream was dropped off at our dealer's shop in a snowstorm so that he could change out our pump. When the trailer was returned I could not keep water in the tank when filling and found the source of the problem was the gravity drain opened by the dealer to winterize the trailer. I found it on the passenger side and hard to get to near the front wheel. How embarassing!

If you have the white one that is plastic you can use a silicon spray with a small red plastic straw and direct the spray at the top of the turning handle. Some times this makes it easy to turn.

If it were to break, it can be a big hassle to replace. The part does not cost very much but getting to it (dropping the pan) can be pricy if your having someone else do it and allot of work for you if your doing it.

As a rule of thumb (for anyone else following this thread) if the unit is more than 3 or 4 years old and you have to drop the belly pan I would always replace the plastic drain.
