HELP! City Water Hookup Missing...

Hi,
The previous owner of my 67 Overlander removed the city water hookup from the back end compartment when he replaced all the water lines. Not sure why, but I would like to reinstall a hookup for use when I go to parks with water & electric. Can anyone out there supply me with a picture (or a clear verbal explanation) of what this hookup is suppose to look like? I see TWO water lines. I'm guessing one is hot, the other is cold. Which should I tap into? Shouldn't I be concerned about installing a check valve to control the water pressure?

I am just about to correct a problem in my Trade Wind that happened when the pipes were replaced (PO) with Pex. My city water connection is to the Hot water line and it is wrong. The city water line needs to tap into the COLD water line. This problem causes the city water to pass through the hot water heater to get to the cold water valves. I do not use city water very much, but it needs to be fixed.
Normally the check valve is built into the pressure regulator. I have neither. I have a hose attached regulater which drops the pressure before it enters the trailer. I also make sure the inlet is capped when I run from the on board water tank (most of the time).

The picture is under the bathroom sink and behind the shower in my Trade Wind. The pipe on the right is the hot line and the T fitting is the city water connection (wrong). The pipe on the left is the cold water line and the T is the line to the toilet. Since the toilet only uses cold water it makes it easy to identify. Both lines go up to the shower valves. I am going to replace the wrong T with a straight connector and move the T to the other line.

Thanks, balrgn & az...I like visuals, too, balrgn, but could you supply me with instructions for the numbering on the diagrams, please? Please correct me if I'm wrong:

I need to locate the COLD water line (leading to the toilet, for instance) and install a T that would provide a connection to a city hose with an inline pressure regulator for filling and usage. I DO NOT need to have the T installed on the hot water line at all, correct?

Here's a pic of my current setup showing the absence of a regulator and/or city water hookup. What's the verdict?

That's correct. The water will flow through the cold water system and into the hot water heater. The hot water lines will get supplied from the heater. The PO on my trailer installed a fitting on the street side rear for the water line. I have a hose attached regulator that connects between the hose and that connection.

Thanks again, guys! What pressure regulator should I install? Don't want too much that it would blow the lines. I heard about a 30# and a 60# inline hose regulator. Which is best for my 1967 Overlander?

You can use an in line regulator. I use one as well as an insurance policy
Click on the thumb nail it will enlargen to normal size

Sorry, balrgn, about not first clicking on the image before asking you for more instructions. I know you and others have better things to do than deal with those like me...living in the DUH ZONE.

If you do a yahoo search for Watts Regulators or Watts Water Pressure Regulators you will find a bunch of them. I wish I could remember the specific site I went to but they had a bunch of them. They range from units with/without a gauge and with hose connections on both sides as well as larger units that have pipe threaded connections. I have used an in-line with gauge I bought from Camping World in addition to the Watts unit in my trailer. The one in the trailer is adjustable and came set to 45 psi. I recently bought an additional regulator with gauge made by Watts that is adjustable. They have them on the Camping World website.

You know, it's been said, "A picture is worth a thousand words." TOMW, thanks for saying so much with those fantastic photos! Is that a typical
"factory" setup, or did you devise that yourself? Are you concerned about water dripping from the hose connector onto your wood...or does that connection run right above the access door on the underpinning? Would LOVE to see more pics of your 67. That seems to be the same exact model as mine, except yours is looks a whole lot sweeter than mine right now. You mentioned "my site." How do I get there, Tom?

Hi All,
I would also recomend putting in a one way walve on the city water line . Instal it just ahead of the regulator. This will keep you from emtying your AS water supply when cold camping.
