gallons per minute - question re: heater and shower head

hola,

i got a low-flo shower head - http://store.wesgogreen.com/bricor-b...ower-h100.html

(1 gpm, some sort of vacuum pressure thingie). im looking to get a LP on-demand / tankless water heater. HOWEVER, it says it requires min 1.3GPM to ACTIVATE unit. thats fine - the water pump is like 3.5 GPM or more - but, will the low-flo shower head 'backup' the pressure, causing the water heater to stop working?

do i need a 1.3+ GPM showerhead to alleviate pressure? thx.

Triggering the heat

We have an RV500 tankless water heater and I thought it was defective at first. We were boondocking and trying to conserve water, running the shower on low flow. The hot water heater didn't work.

We found that we could watch the flow switch. It was a whirly-gig behind plexiglass. Once it was running fast enough, the water heater comes on. If the flow is too low, the whirly-gig doesn't spin and the heat won't kick on.

We solved the problem with a push button switch right at the showerhead. We set the flow fast enough to kick on the hot water heater and then stop/start at will. The temperature is surprisingly constant.

You have a different brand, but it probably runs on the same principle -- too little water flow won't allow the burner to come on.

BTW- how's the Boss these days?

John

thanks for letting me learn from your mistake.

Boss is good - he was here this summer for rehersals (as always!) , and we ran into patty (his wife) at the bar getting drinks at the bob dylan show.

always a good time to be had in asbury park! (except when you lack a driveway to park you AS! lol...)
