Freshwater drain plug

On my 1992 Excella the drain plug was damaged as well as the housing the plug threads into. I thought-mice ! Maybe so but I tried caulking the threads & reinstalled the plug. Still leaked. The housing is pretty bad so I tried epoxy, clamping a plastic band to keep the epoxy in place. Most of the leak is gone but there is still one at the top of the housing. I will try more epoxy but if that doesn't work how can I install a new drain plug assembly without removing the tank ?

Have you tried a brand-new drain plug in the same housing? Before you replace the whole kit-and-caboodle, you might try replacing just the plug first. And if that doesn't help, THEN replace the whole thing, but keep the new drain plug you bought as a spare.

Yes I did but the housing was damaged, seemingly eaten by mice as there was debris on the inspection plate. Still hoping the epoxy will seal it.
