Fresh Water Tank

We are replacing the old galvanized fresh water tank with a new plastic one. When we ordered it, the manufacture recommended a place (hole) to put a releif valve near the top of the tank. The old tank had none. Can anyone tell us what we need to put this valve in? Is it really necessary?

Linda you need some where for the air to vent to when you fill the tank with water.

Vent/Pressure relief

If the filling tube is like the one in my Argosy, it has a vent built in. If not, as long as there is space around the hose you are using to fill, it should vent. Much like the gas tank on older vehicles.
