Fresh water tank

I have an 1958 flying cloud and it water system has not been used in years. I took the tank out to repair the floor and it looks good from the outside. I notices rust in it an am wondering how to clean it, or should I replace it? Any help appreciated.

Ron.

Your Airstream has the old pressurized system.

That went out many years ago, as being not very practical.

Everything today is a demand system.

You can change the tank to plastic, add 2 check valves, add a water pump, and it's done.

Steel tanks, of course will rust (not good to drink), and once they leak, they are done.
