Fresh Water hose
I am looking into getting a new fresh water hose for outside.I am looking for something I can roll up really easily and not have to worry about looping the hose up any more.I am just getting tired of doing this all the time now.I end up putting it in plastic bags so if there is any left over water in the line it does not run out into the floor.I have seen one that rolls up onto a wheel and it seems pretty good but it is really big.Anything that is small and compact?Any suggestions or what have you all done to make life easier.

Steve, I made several lengths of hose and installed brass ends into it for my own perfect hose. I made a 4 ft length to go from the water hydrant in a camp to my filter, and I have a 6 ft section, and also a 10 and a 20 foot section. These are made of clear, braided 5/8" with brass fittings. These hose lengths have served me well for many years.

Steve, I coil up my hose when breaking camp and then put bungees around it to keep it in a tight coil. I then screw the ends of the hose together so water doesn't spill out while in storage (and too keep bugs out).

I have one of those roll up hoses. It's 25' long, and rolled up it measures approximately 14" x 14" x 1 1/2" thick. It rolls up flat and squeegees the water out. The one you have pictured seems pretty compact. There are several kinds out there. Just make sure you get the RV/boating type. I use mine as a back-up and as an extension to my regular hoses which I keep coiled up inside a waterproof nylon bag.

hi devo
the 'roller hoses' are great for extras, back up, reaching distant source and so on...
but LOUSY for everyday use.
the fittings are weak the hose is thin, the FLOW is slow, they are MORE prone to mildew inside, and so on...
____________________
the permanently coiled hoses have really good brass fittings and are durable and compact.
but the narrow size limits flow/pressure. (for some this is a good thing)
but THIS STYLE have been used the most, is quickest to stow and drain and most durable for daily use.
CW sells these in 25s and 50s in 'blue' drinking water safe color...
_____________________
like 'hobby i cut a quality rv/drinking water hose into sections and added brass ends.
this lets me use only enough and add inline filters easily.
_____________________
with ANY of these hoses the issue of mildew and bacteria growing INSIDE the hose is still present.
so the hoses need to be sanitized from time2time and the ends COVERED to avoid critters and boogers getting inside.
______________________
disclaimer:
i carry ~175 feet of hose including 2 of EACH of these (roll up, coil, standard) and a 'spare' brand new/unused/packaged hose....
just in case
cheers

We bought a 50' permanently coiled hose before this last trip, and it was one of the best decisions we ever made. Water pressure isn't as good, but certainly adequate, it takes up less than half the space in our small rig and is just so much less annoying than the regular hose. Coiling that thing and getting it back into its' cubby, especially when cold, was a royal pain. We continue to carry a 5' hose for fresh water fill.

We have 3 water hoses, one is 10' and the other two are 25' ea. All are coiled up with the ends screwed together and put on top of the propane bottles under the lid. Usually all we need is the 10' and it is very easy to coil up. Once a yr. I take them out and put them in the tub with some water and chlorine to soak for a while.

I know.sometimes I get like that.
Thanks for the links 2Air.
What about the quick disconnects.I had some break on me in the past. What it had broke was the seal because when I would clip them together it would leak really bad. What do you all use that has worked well with the hoses?
And what type of water hose connectors did you all use to put them together.Plastic,Brass,Stainless?

Hose
What about one of these. You could put one or two of these in a small box and not worry about taking up much room.

I bought some of these at a home-show in St. Louis. I use the big one to store a 25' 5/8" fresh water hose. It works out pretty well.

I bought some quick connects from McMaster Carr this past spring.
I ordered part number 6537K65, and 6537K93 brass quick connects. They make the connect/disconnecting process very easy.
