I am the proud new owner (I think) of a 1969 27' Overlander...my wife is quite sure I have slipped over the edge but I am confidant that she will see my deep wisdom, will learn to love it and continue to put up with me. It was frozen by the previous owner and I think has to have a complete water system replacement. Sounds like PEX and Flair fittings are the recomended product. Anything eles that I should look for and know before entering this arena? Will the hot water heater generaly be bad?

Welcome footer,

Pex is a good way to go. As for the water heater being bad. Do you mean from frozen water in the tank?

If the tank had a small amount of leftover water in it you should be alright. If the tank was full or nearly full you may find that the tank split. It's also a good idea to check your toilet inlet valve, and your black and fresh water storage tanks for damage as well.

Congrats on the AS and we hope your wife continues putting up with you.

Kevin

thanks for the input. I will have the trailer on site this weekend and will be able to check out the heater and the holding tanks then. Still many unknowns.

First of all, Welcome!
I have enjoyed my AS. I feel confident you will enjoy your AS also. If the wife doesn't like the AS, get a different one.........

Footer: find a nice place to go with your wife in the AS, and I bet she'll become a devotee to the trailer thing. My partner was dubious about the whole thing, and after a great rally experience is now totally into exploring with the trailer. Good luck, it should be fun!

Feels like 'lobetrotter at the moment. Good luck with everything: we actually, finally, took the Globie out with only the electrical working, just to do it. Bring nice bedding, good food and wine, and it helps pave the way for a fun trip. All the best to you
