I am the proud new owner (I think) of a 1969 27' Overlander...my wife is quite sure I have slipped over the edge but I am confidant that she will see my deep wisdom, will learn to love it and continue to put up with me. It was frozen by the previous owner and I think has to have a complete water system replacement. Sounds like PEX and Flair fittings are the recomended product. Anything eles that I should look for and know before entering this arena? Will the hot water heater generaly be bad?

Pex is a good way to go. As for the water heater being bad. Do you mean from frozen water in the tank?

If the tank had a small amount of leftover water in it you should be alright. If the tank was full or nearly full you may find that the tank split. It's also a good idea to check your toilet inlet valve, and your black and fresh water storage tanks for damage as well.

thanks for the input. I will have the trailer on site this weekend and will be able to check out the heater and the holding tanks then. Still many unknowns.

Footer: find a nice place to go with your wife in the AS, and I bet she'll become a devotee to the trailer thing. My partner was dubious about the whole thing, and after a great rally experience is now totally into exploring with the trailer. Good luck, it should be fun!

lobetrotter, Getting the rig opend up now and hope to have the systems runing and the years of previous owners dirt cleaned out in a couple of weeks...then we will hit the road for a while. Can't wait. Thanks for the thoughts
