E-Pex Crimp Rings and Tool

I need to replace a fitting connecting the cold water tubing to the water heater bypass. When I began looking for crimp rings and connectors, I was confronted with a myriad of choices with no information about which crimp rings work with which crimp tools. Furthermore, it turns out that there are different types of PEX and fittings that are not compatible with each other.

Would someone please explain what E-PEX is and what type (brand) of crimp rings and crimp tool I need for the E-PEX tubing.

E-pex was a brand made by Heatway that went out of business about 17ish years ago due to getting sued into bankruptcy for defective product.
It was bought out by Watts.
You could call watts to see if their tech guys have any legacy info.
I don't know any specifics about it unfortunately. What kind of crimps were on there originally? You might be able to use shark bite fittings. One bit of literature mentioned copper crimp rings as well as brass compression fittings.
