Drain petcock replacement '09 International

On a trip to Alaska this summer, some rocks from a gravel "highway sheared off the fresh water drain petcock on our 2009 25' International CCD. The only piece left was the plastic flange. I removed the 2 screws and tried to pull the remaining piece from the back side of the flange into the tank with pliers and met with no success. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I found another thread and it talked about enlarging the hole in the tank, but, I'm leery of doing that. Once the old piece is removed, what would be the suggested sealant to re-seal the valve to the tank?

I had to use some RTV to seal the petcock on the trip so that we could continue to use the fresh water tank on the 3 month trip. I was surprised that it held for about 7,000 miles of driving.

I am quite certain that there is a vinyl tube between the drain valve and the polyethylene water tank. The actual drain valve with flange is screwed to the metal pan that helps support the tank itself. Hose clamps hold the tube to both the tank and valve. Since this is assembled before the floor at the factory the hose clamp screws are usually not easy to access from below. You need to cut an access hole in the bottom of the metal pan to get at the tubing.

Replace with this aluminum. Should be more robust.

Are you talking about the line drain or the tank drain valve ?

It's the plastic tank petcock drain valve that is located on the road side wheel well.

My 98 has an access panel in the underbelly that allows access to the drain. However I had to use a dremel to cut the hose clamps. Job was easy.
