Cold fresh water valve and drain in the storage compartment

Hi, Have a '04 25' Safari. Have had it 6 years and only noticed today there is a water valve in the street side rear outside storage compartment. Turned the valve, and water squirted out of a Pex line protruding 3" from the bottom of the trailer.

Is this to drain the system? Is it like an outside spigot to fill a bucket? Been thinking of adding an exterior shower hose and this might be an easy connection.

Thoughts?

Thanks,

Don

That's a "low point drain" for the cold water. There may be one for hot also.

Yes, that is the low point drain for the fresh water system. On my 25' it is the only drain other than the water heater plug. But the low point drain will not drain all of the water out of the fresh water system. Water inside the pipe between the inlet and the pressure regulator will not drain. There are other places in the interior that will trap water.

Thanks! It's also a handy spot to fill a bucket!

Yes, it is a drain for fresh water. On my 25' 2013 Flying Cloud a stone hit the spigot and knocked it off. That caused the tank to drain while traveling and I had no water when I got to my destination. It was an incredibly difficult job to fix it. I can't understand why Airstream uses a cheap $3.00 plastic valve with no stone protection. I hope someone from Airstream reads this. Ed in Edmonton, Alberta

The drain on the fresh water tank is not the low point drain for the fresh water system. The drain on the fresh water tank will not drain the pipes, only the tank.

This might be handy for others. I used a "slip on" 1/2 Pex elbow, and connected a hose connection (male). I can now use the drain point (and the water in my fresh tank) thru a hose.
