Another Broken Fresh Water Tank Drain

Hi All, I am getting my 31' 84 Excella ready to go boondocking for the first time and my drain valve broke. Does anyone have a drawing or sketch of how this is assembled? The valve broke off basically flush and what is left is the mounting flange and a hole in the middle. The mounting flange has two screws that mount to the tank cover. What would happen if I removed the screws?

I have a similar problem with my 98 Safari. The top (handle/tab) broke off and need to replace the drain valve. Wondering if the valve assembly is screwed into the tank through the tank cover ?

I have the same problem with my 98 Safari. Broke the valve handle off this spring. I found 2 styles of valve in Holman Motors RV catalog, but not sure which one is right, or how to install. CB

On my '86 the drain valve assembly is mounted on the tank cover, behind it is a short length of hose that leads to the tank itself. To replace mine, I opened the closet floor, loosened the hose clamp on the back of the valve and removed the hose. From the outside I removed the two screws, removed the old valve and replaced with new. Back inside, hook the short hose up to back of valve, tighten clamp, you're good to go.

On mine ('07 Safari 25 FB), the 2 screws on the flange just secure the valve to the tank cover. The drain line itself is a short piece of clear flexible tubing, connected to the tank and the valve with small hose clamps. Hopefully it's accessible from inside the trailer. (Mine is, but I had to hire one of the Keebler elves to reach in there for me......make sure he brings his scaled-down elf tools)......

I replaced mine this past summer. I removed the old one by first removing the screws & then twisting it out. It was directly in the tank & sealed with plumbers putty (the white stuff that's kind of thick but not exactly putty). I put together the new one by taking the old one to Lowe's & playing with brass fittings until I got what I wanted my drain faucet to be (pretty technical). Then got a round stainless fitting for around it from the bathroom section for around tub faucets & used that to surround it so it's stable. It works pretty nicely & was an easy fix for me. Here's a picture of the finished product:

Here is the picture of the offending fresh water drain valve located between the street side wheels, the location of the drain when looking under the closet, and the valve removed. The drain tube from the tank to the valve is located in the center of the picture below the black electrical tape. The tube uses hose clamps to secure it.

the replacement valve looks like a Camco part #22223 so I will be ordering and replacing asap.
