That is true.. Our original setup had a piece of pipe with a cap that stuck out several inches from the side of the trailer. I eliminated that and installed a standard water fill that was flush with the side of the trailer. Looks much better.
We used the standard Shurflo 2088 series water pump which has been in service now for 8 years with no problems
