Advice on fresh water tank replacement

It started with a trip on washboard roads here in colorado. Driving my nearly new 22' bambi and saw something leaking. Pulled over to find a broken plastic drain petcock valve, plastic you gotta b kidding!
Anyway a cork from a wine bottle saved the trip.
Then called airstream tech support and was told that i needed to cut an access panel, again you gotta b kiding, no access panel! Advised to cut one myself and be careful, well saw slipped and out came the water. Fairly sure that I put a hole in the tank. Can anyone give me some advise on dropping the drain pan and getting in there to replace it? or what it will cost to have done at a dealer. Can't believe they put plastic there and no access panel for when it breaks.

There is an epoxy that is designed for plastic that should fix any hole you put in it. Sorry to here about that. Yep they seem to be cheeping out on some stuff.

I think they have been using that same plastic petcock for about 30 years.

Had the same failure on my 1991...

I put brass ones in my new tank from the hareware store. $5 each. Drilled a hole just a little smaller as the petcock was threaded. and used some epoxy on it as it put it in. Rocks solid.
