'74 Trade Winds..broken water line

Help---The cold caught me and there's a break in the water line. How do I go about taking things apart to find it? Closet panels are all riveted how do I dismantle and reinstall? Thanks.

Greetings, Ameliasdad, and welcome to AirForums! I'm sure you'll find lots of information about how to access your water systems here!

Well it depends on where the water is coming from to begin with, my 73 ambassador has lines in the kitchen and bathroom and between the tank and the water heater, but no lines in the closet. There is only one line that I cannot access and it runs from the tank to the bathroom and I can see it from the tank access panel on the belly of the trailer.

Greetings and welcome to the Forum.
Where the line is, and if it’s a hot or cold pipe makes a big difference in the repair.
One of the previous owners neglected the plumbing and both the hot and cold lines split in the closet on my TW double. Someone fixed these by blobbing as much solder over the split as they could smear on. It was easy to get to.
If it’s under the sink cabinet, by the water heater, in the bathroom or the city water line it gets much more involved. As you’ve discovered, the cabinets are a pain to get out or disassemble.
Let us know where the pipe’s gone bad and maybe we can point you in the right direction.

Good luck,
Tom

You can drill out the rivettes with a 1/8 drill bit. I am currently gutting the interior of a 74 Tradewind for renovation. If you take all of the drawers out of the little dresser you should be able to see the 2 water lines below if that is where the leak is. The drawers just slide out.on mine, the PO had repaired a couple of leaks in the closet and under the dresser with heater hose and circular clamps.
